Think about it for a second...Your bridesmaids have been there for you every step of your wedding journey. From the engagement party to organizing the best bachelorette party, you can’t have a better group than them to walk you down the aisle.
To fulfill the long-standing tradition of gifting your bridesmaid presents, let’s go through a couple of questions. If you have doubts in your mind about whether or not you should get your bridesmaids a gift, keep on reading!
My Favorite Gift Ideas
Are you stressing what you need to do to impress your bridesmaids with ‘that’ fantastic gift? Worry not! I’ll walk you through some of the ideas we have in mind.
-
Tie-the-Knot Necklace
I know a chic necklace does not sound cheap, but trust me on this one. They will be equally appreciated, not just by the bridesmaids but also by your budget. A pro-tip is to buy one for yourself as well. Why not rock the matching necklaces and show the guests what BFFs are?
-
Custom Bracelet
Sounds boring, no? Hear me out. You can get the best bang for your buck by stacking up custom bracelets for your bridesmaids. Mix and match the names, quotes, or whatever that is dear to you or them and display them in the form of stacked bracelets.
-
Bridesmaid Robes
Made with cotton and lace material, bridesmaid robes can be your ideal go-to selection for a perfect gift. You can add a cherry on top by choosing the favorite colors of your bridesmaids.
-
Personalized Candles
Imagine a candle with delicious scents (my favorite is anything coconut or pumpkin BUT not together, ew!) These perfect customized candles can be modern, cost-friendly, and can pave the way for uniqueness.
-
Friendship Bracelet
Is your bridesmaid a friend from childhood? Well, that is all the more reason to make a perfect beaded bracelet. This cute piece of jewelry can unlock a gateway to limitless memories you have shared. It may be small in stature, but it can present big tokens of gratitude.
-
Spa Box
We all have friends who are spa enthusiasts. I'm sure one of your bridesmaids is likely to be one as well. Gift a neatly packaged spa box, and make sure to include a personalized label on the inside to make it more memorable.
-
Pashmina Scarf
You just cannot go wrong with this one. Even if your girls are not fashion geeks, a good piece of finely-tailored pashmina scarf can add to the beauty of their dressing. Well, not just that, it can also keep their shoulders warm. What a delightful combination!
-
Personalized Compact Mirror
You would agree that a compact mirror is a must-have for us ladies. But a personalized compact mirror would hold significant value to your bridesmaid every time she touches her makeup.
-
Vintage Clutches
Don’t you want your bridesmaids to carry the perfect clutch that matches their dress colors? I mean, who doesn’t? Perfect for the wedding and many more events to come, vintage clutches can prove to be outstanding, as long as they are sensibly picked.
-
Tote Bag
Last but not least, we have tote bags as my final recommendation. As a woman, there is no such thing as ‘too many bags.’ So, give your girls a one-of-a-kind tote bag so that they can use it for years to come.
Are bridesmaid gifts necessary?
Let’s be real with ourselves. The tradition of expensive weddings has not drifted into oblivion… yet. Not more than half a decade ago, an American study stated that an average wedding costs a whopping $44,000. Let that sink in!
After spending stacks of cash for the decoration, venue, photography sessions, props, dresses, and everything else, you would think it is necessary to buy your bridesmaid a gift? The answer is a big fat YES!
From purchasing the ‘perfect’ bridesmaid dress and throwing pre-wedding parties, an average bridesmaid spends $1,200 on a wedding. So, sit back for a moment, take a sip of your favorite drink (I looooove hot chocolate!), and ask yourself these four questions:
-
When should I start shopping?
-
What should I give?
-
When do I give the gifts?
-
What should I spend?
So, don’t skimp on the cost. Remember that these are the people you’ll share one of the best days of your life with. Now, let’s hop on to the next question.
How much should I spend?
The next big question – how much should you spend? Well, in our recommendation, you should buy a gift that is valued at nearly 20% of the bridesmaid’s expenses. The expenses include a bachelorette party, manicure pedicure, shoes, hair and makeup, dress, jewelry, and even the hotel room for a wedding.
Now, given the nature of the expenses, you should expect to spend a measly $100 - $150 on gifts for each of your bridesmaids. It sounds like a fair deal to me!
I hope you enjoyed my ideas for gifts. Take it as a moment to say ‘thank you’ to your squad.

About this wedding:
Bride Hailey and Groom Dylan got married in February at the Draper, Utah temple. Their friends and family excitedly awaited their exit outside the Draper temple on a crisp mid-morning. The light was perfect for group photos and couple portraits across the Draper temple grounds. Hailey had major squad goals with her bridesmaid & bridesman group. There is nothing I love more as a Utah wedding photographer than a joyful couple. So much laughter and non-stop smiling from the newly married love birds. This is exactly why I consider myself honored to be a wedding photographer in Utah.
