Choosing a wedding photographer can be one of the most important decisions you make about your wedding, so it’s really worth putting time and effort into it. As with many aspects of preparing your wedding, you can use your smartphone to help you find the perfect person for photographing this most special of days. Hey, that could be me!
It is not an unknown fact that your photographs will amount to the most treasured wedding memento. If done right, you will be able to reminisce on the old memories 50 years from your wedding day. It will include the first kiss, the dance, the exchanged vows, and even the surreal moments captured in between. When the dress is hung back up, the cake cut into and the guests have all gone home, all you will have left are the memories and beautiful photographs.
To help you find the ‘perfect’ Utah wedding photographer, (ahem, me!) follow my tips, and you can start looking for YOUR wedding photographer.
Word of Mouth
Finding a reliable and trust worthy wedding photographer is essential. You do not want your photographer to be making eleventh-hour excuses and ruining your special day. So, a good idea is to hit up your social media networks and look in your surroundings initially. For instance, to look for a Utah wedding photographer, all you need to do is narrow down your search based on the geographical location.
Another golden tip is to find a photographer at least six months before your wedding, and that too, after you have finalized the venue. Expand your search by asking your recently married friends and then solicit recommendations from your wedding planner.
What's Your Style?
When you’re in search of a wedding photographer, we suggest you do some prior homework. Get to know the style of photography you like. Maybe you want saturated colors, or perhaps, being an old school, you desire a vintage look to grasp a nostalgic feel.
List down those possible wedding photographers who vibe with your style and then contact them asking about their availability. If you manage to get your hands on the photographer who is available within your budget and time, you can proceed with the initial meeting.

Schedule Engagments--A Test Run
Let’s agree to disagree that images can be deceptive. Be wary of "Instagram Only" photographers. Ask your potential photographer to see a FULL WEDDING gallery. Anyone can post their very best photo from a session. You'll want to see proof that a photographer can work indoors, low-light situations. I suggest that when you hire a photographer, book him or her for a photo session, such as engagements. There is also a big chance the bride or groom is camera-shy and may want to feel comfortable with the photographer before the big day.
As your Utah wedding photographer, I'm an open book. I'll share my galleries with you anytime.
Finding a Utah wedding photographer might not be easy as it looks, but if you follow my tips, your quest might get a little easier. Do you think you can share some tips as well? Feel free to share your two cents down below and bless us with your guidelines.
