How do you demonstrate that you are grateful your guest attended your wedding? I would imagine that if I asked 100 brides to be I would get 100 different answers. Party favors were intended, you guessed it “ as a gesture of gratitude” from you and you’re other to the guest. Before you get worked up about another thing on the to-do list, let’s review some ideas.
How to decide to favor or not favor?
-
How much time and effort is this going to cost you? While cookies with every guest’s name on them sound super adorable in the brainstorming phase, 2 days before your wedding, might leave you wishing you had never had the idea.
-
If you cant think of anything that sums you up as a couple, don’t. Realistically do you need to spend the money on that, and whatever you do decide on, what is the likeliness it’s going to end up in the trash on the way out?
-
You found something functional! Yay function, nothing better than that pleased look on Aunt Diane’s face when she is actually very pleased she has a hand fan with your names and wedding date on it. Winning!
So you decided in favor of favors!
Hey, have you seen some of the stuff you can get on Etsy?! Sheesh, I want all these adorable miniatures and personalized gifts. Most brides are going to give out some sort of party favor to their wedding guests.
What should you spend?
The average price for a wedding favor comes in at $2-3 dollars per guest, some DIY project or bulk buys can get you down below the $1 mark.
what is the size of your guest list and your budget? - This is going to have an impact on your decisions once you can answer those two questions.
What to get? Here are a few ways to direct your purchasing of those precious trinkets.
-
Experience. Can you find something that makes their experience at your wedding memorable? - umbrellas, cozy mittens, or blankets.
-
Do good. Donate to a charity or scholarship that you care about
-
Personalize it. If you’re going to do it, really try to make it your own.
-
Don’t be afraid to go bulk. Depending on what you decide on ( like matchboxes). Those bad boys are going to come in handy forever! Same idea with magnets and shot glasses, picture frames, and tea lights! Useful stuff rocks!
-
What can they use right now? Hot cocoa cups with all the fixin’s at their seat, or mints for after dinner, candy, doughnuts, popcorn for a brunch feel, or before dinner snack. This is a covid era, so hand sanitizer is a great idea! What about drink koozies or sunglasses because the future is looking so bright? You can add your personal flair to just about anything you choose.
Already a bit crafty?
-
DIY just might solve all of your problems! With pennies on the dollar and a more environmentally friendly approach, DIY is a great way to go.
-
Especially if this is already your jam! I mean, really, you could totally make tiny jams! Please send me a picture if you do!!
-
You could share recipes of your favorite dish, handwrite cards or notes, even build tiny flower bouquets for each guest. You could make those adorable little charcuterie cones.
-
It’s all about the memories.
-
Fun favors also make for some of the best pictures. They can create some of the most organic props that creatively sum up the marrying couple and the people they love. And any time a girl can multi-purpose her moo-lah, I say go for it!
-
And if you need a photographer that is all about finding those organic moments, I am your gal. Give me a ring and we can discuss all the fun ways to tie your wedding together
About the session:
Alyssa and Landon were my wedding giveaway winners. They were so incredibly kind and gracious and I loved being their wedding photographer. Even after the wedding, we had dinner and I saw them both perform in Jekell & Hyde (both amazing performers!)
Location: Provo Orchards at Utah State Hospital
