Do you send out Christmas cards? Snail mail may be "out of style" but in my family, we love sending real deal mail to our grandparents every year. I know that my grandma and grandpa absolutely love receiving physical mail. That's one of the reasons I'm a firm believer in Christmas cards.
Here is a list of 5 legit reasons you should send a Christmas card this year!
1. Sending a physical card shows you care.
Imagine going to your mailbox and finding a personalized Christmas card from a family member you rarely get to see. I'm positive it brought a smile to your face. Sending a card to a loved one will show that you are thinking of them during the Christmas season.
2. You're leaving a tangible legacy (hello, remember MySpace)
I don't know about YOUR grandparents, but mine keep their Christmas cards every year. It's so fun to flip through the years of cards and reminisce. Sending a real deal Christmas card is like leaving a photo journal entry in the world. Generations from now, your great-great-grandkids will giggle and smile as they point out our silly hairstyles.
3. Spread some Holiday cheer
Many people have a difficult time during the holidays finding happiness. Especially for those who might feel lonely, a Christmas card can easily lift someone's Christmas spirit.
4. Re-connect on a more personal level. Skip the DM's for once!
I find myself constantly swiping, double tapping and "liking" photos. It's a quick glance and I'm on to the next thing. With a physical Christmas card, your photos will last a bit longer. There's nothing wrong with commenting on someone's instagram photo or sliding into their DMs but a Christmas card is much more personal and thoughtful.
5. Update your family photos
I saved the most important reason for last. Of course I'm a HUGE advocate for updating your photos as often as possible. I'm not very good at writing in a journal but I do take photos quite often. Our family photos are our journal and help tell my family's story. Every part of our story is special and deserves a photo.
About the location-
The Studio at Union Square is located in Sandy, Utah. As a family photographer, having a natural light studio to rely on is so important! I loved using this space for my Christmas mini sessions. They have a wide variety of props including a blow up mattress bed (with headboard options), color wall options, white couch and many other prop options. It's on the second floor of the building and offers a long hallway with chairs for clients to wait. There is also a bathroom and small kitchenette available if needed.
