I've known Emmily for years and years. We briefly lived near each other in 2014. I photographed her youngest when she was born. This was when I was first starting my photography journey. I was NOT very good. I was awkward. My editing wasn't consistent. I didn't know how to use light to my advantage. I am definitely my own worst critic. I'm so incredibly honored that she chose ME (despite my short-comings with her newborn photos) to photograph her engagements, bridals and wedding day.
When I first met Jarred, I knew he was head-over-heels in love with Emmily. I knew it within the first 5 minutes of seeing them interact with each other. How could I tell? The way he looked at her when he thought she wasn't looking at him. These two make each other so incredibly happy that it's almost tangible. I could *almost* bottle it up and take it home with me. Does this all sound so cheesy? Yes. Too good to be true? Nope.
This is what love looks like.
About the location:
Some brides may stress about where to get amazing photographs during the winter months in Utah. Unless there is fresh snow, Utah Valley and Salt Lake Valley can look a bit muddy and grey. That's where my expertise comes into play! I know ALL the good spots to photograph a winter bride and her groom.
Our local temperatures have recently been 25 degrees. That's not super fun to shoot in for extended periods of time. With Emmily and Jarred I knew I needed a location that had both free indoor/outdoor options. There are many natural light studios that I can rent (and they are GORGEOUS) but that's not always the style my brides are going for.
Emmily had her heart set on an urban/city vibe to her bridal session. Trolley Square was the top contender! I love this spot because it has so many different options both inside and outside. This gallery doesn't even showcase all of it's different backdrops. I try to keep the number of "spots" we shoot at in a single location to a minimum. It helps with gallery and editing consistency. Besides, it's not always about the background. I'm focused on YOU!
Trolley Square has a great industrial vibe on the second floor near the sky bridge. I adore all of the exposed brick, pipes, metal arches and a high ceiling. We shot their "first look" in this particular spot. We moved their photos to the first floor to really showcase the high ceilings and the beautiful Christmas lights.
*side note: the bathrooms have key code locks on them. You need to visit any of the stores inside and they can give you the code.
The second half of the bridal photo session was outside near William Sonoma. The dark red brick and black metal accents are drool worthy. It was the perfect backdrop for this city wedding couple.
