So, you're pregnant? Congrats! What an exciting time for you and your growing family. Whether you like it or not, that cute bump must eventually come into the world as a beautiful baby. The best way to remember that adorable bump is through Meghan Hess Photography! I want to freeze in time the moments before your bump became baby.
Motherhood is a high calling. You are responsible for another human (no pressure, right?!) Let's get you looking and feeling beautiful before that human is sleeping in your arms, spitting up in your hair and making cooing noises. This is my favorite thing about being a Maternity photographer in Utah. I get to make mommas feel good about themselves!
You might be wondering when the best time to get your maternity photos taken. Well, that really depends on your pregnancy and how you feel.
Too Small
Anytime before week 29 is typically too early. Your bump is barely showing and you still have 10 more weeks to go! I mean, come on! You're baby is barely the size of a head of cauliflower, haha!
Too Big
After week 35, isn't the most ideal time to photograph that bump. Why? Well, let's be super honest...um-k? At a certain point, you're going to feel so big and uncomfortable that you won't want to get your photos taken. Feet are swollen, tired all the time... photos will be the last thing on your mind.
Just Right
Best bump size is around the 29-34 week milestone. This is when baby is the size of a coconut or pineapple. Just ripe enough to photograph. Hungry yet?
Maybe you were asking about the best time of the year to photograph your cute 'wittle bump. Well, that is definitely a question to ask before you conceive. If you're a "Type A" planner like me, you can plan it all perfectly so that you're maternity photos align with your favorite season. My opinion? Pregnant ladies look good all year round! Don't stress about the seasons and what would look best.
As a Utah maternity photographer I have ALL the best locations for my baby bump clients. I like to keep my momma's close to home, no hiking and as comfortable as possible. Long car rides into the mountains aren't really the best idea (especially if there isn't a restroom at the top of that mountain!) I've been pregnant (3x)... I know...
Tunnel Springs is a perfect spot for expectant mothers. It looks like you've hiked into the most beautiful hills of Utah. Really though, it's just a short walk from a gravel parking lot in North Salt Lake. A few steps off of the running path and you're standing in the most beautiful fields. This location is a great option Spring-Fall. During the Spring and early Summer, the grass is a lush green. The rolling hills are bright and beautiful. During the late summer and into fall, the grass turns into a brilliant gold.
