Emmily & Jared are gettin' hitched!
When scheduling their engagements, they wanted to make sure they included their kids. We split the time between a family session and an engagement session in the gorgeous American Fork Canyon.
About the location-
This particular location is in American Fork Canyon. There are so many places to pull off inside the canyon to hike & explore. This is one of my favorite spots for photos because it's easy to find, has plenty of parking and the most stunning views of Mount Timpanogos. This area is near the horse trailhead parking lot. To get here, you'll pass by Tibble Fork (another great spot for your photo backdrop). Family photos near Tibble Fork during summer-winter are breathtaking.
Many people don't realized that when the snow melts in the valley and spring starts to bloom in April/May, the mountain spring doesn't really start until June. The higher elevation makes it take a bit longer for the sun to melt all the wintery snow away. I don't typically schedule any canyon/mountain sessions March-May because it's just muddy, messy and a bit too brown for my liking. If you're wanting updated family photos in the mountains, plan on a summer through fall date.
As you view these photos, you'll notice that I enjoy documenting motion. Yes, I'll pose you but then give you a prompt "Chelsea, can you tell mom a joke?" Kids and dads typically have an arsenal of hilariously terrible jokes up their sleeve. We go on family walks, spin, dance and play games. I find that the least focus humans (dads and kids) have a much better experience when they are distracted and having fun.
